Dangerous goods air freight follows the IATA DGR: classification, UN-approved packing, marking and the shipper's declaration, prepared by DGR-trained staff for classes 1–9.

Cargo insurance is all-risk cover priced on declared value. Carrier liability alone is capped by the Montreal Convention at 22 SDR per kilogram, which rarely covers real cargo value.
